About Sister Paulynne Tubick

From her earliest days in ministry, Sister Mary Paulynne Tubick dedicated herself to the education of youth and has never stopped updating her skills as a teacher and principal of elementary schools. While she has successfully ministered to children of various economic groups, her love and focus continues to be, “For the poor,” as she experienced during her years at St. Lawrence of Brindisi School in South Los Angeles, CA. Sister Paulynne first volunteered to go to St. Julie’s School in Buseesa, Uganda in 2001, where she served as a full-time teacher, treasurer for both the high school and elementary school, and maintenance coordinator for the mission property. She returned to California in 2005, teaching at St. Mathias High School in Downey, CA and at St. Hedwig’s Elementary School in Los Alamitos, CA. In 2013, she once again heard the missionary call and returned to Buseesa for an additional three-year term, ministering as head teacher, maintenance supervisor, payroll manager and formation instructor for the native Ugandan sisters. Sister Paulynne enjoyed watching the growth and development of St. Julie’s Nursery School for 2-1/2 to 5 year-old children whose parents are subsistence farmers near the mission in Uganda. As principal, convinced of the importance of empowering others, Sister Paulynne worked to bring out the best in her teachers. She established an administration team and shared responsibility, helping to foster leadership among the Ugandan teachers. The call to mission is a powerful part of the Tubick family heritage. Sister Paulynne’s sister was the late Sister Gabriella Tubick, a member of the Daughters of St. Paul. Sister Gabriella herself was a missionary in Pakistan and Australia and also served in Italy. Sister Paulynne has promoted the SND pioneering spirit with trust in God’s goodness and providence, and she continues to educate and inspire through her current ministry in teaching.
