Where We Serve
From the beginning our congregation was called beyond the boundaries of a single diocese or country. Our foundress, Sr. Maria Aloysia Wolbring, left her German homeland in 1874 with seven other sisters to respond to the needs of German immigrant children in the United States. Since that time the Sisters of Notre Dame have crossed oceans and made their home in faraway places to bring the Gospel message to God’s people. Today we are one congregation in 17 countries around the world, united in one heart, one hope, one mission, committed to global transformation.
